We are looking to add new and exciting features in 2009 and also work on delivering our promise to the members in terms of Jobs listings and other priviledged content on this website.

two thousand and great?????...

2008 has come and gone. So many ups and downs, good and bads, best and worst, successes and failures, whites and blacks, greens and oranges, births and deaths...it all happened in 2008. I overheard a new year's eve conversation where the one lady was complaining that 2008 was a terrible year...well it depends on each individual. Personally, 2008 was not that great because I lost my mother who is close to me. A lot of investors, pension fund managers, property brokers, financiers and others in many developed countries would like to quickly forget events that tooks place in 2008.

Nonetheless in this very 2008, Onswaziline Investments was formaly registered as a company in the Kingdom of Swaziland using the companies act of 1912! In 2008, we got our first website design client, Swaziland Hospice at Home, then we have worked as consultants on various web design projects. We have recently completed a website for Zamekile Guest House. We also created a range of website design samples that you can look at. We are looking forward to a great 2009 as Onswaziline Investments looks to establish itself firmly in the Swazi ICT market...

Tfolakele.com progressed a lot in 2008; we are getting closer to where we want the website to be, people have registered as members and we have seen an increase in the number of visitors to this website. We have worked a lot on the content and feel of this website and hope that you appreciate the work done so far. We are looking to add new and exciting features in 2009 and also work on delivering our promise to the members in terms of Jobs listings and other priviledged content on this website...

In 2008, we also saw:

  • The much talked about 40/40 double celebrations took place in Swaziland in the presence of SADC leaders including Robert Mugabe (Zimbabwe), Ian Khama (Botswana) to mention two...
  • Swaziland's National team, Sihangu almost qualify for the next round of the 2010 AFCON and FIFA World Cup tournaments.
  • Sihlangu beat Togo (with Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor) playing and drawing with Zambia 1-1 at home (Somhlolo National Stadium) only to lose the away games and get eliminated having given us so much to be hopeful about...PS I watched both home games and if you know Adebayor, ask him about the Swazi keeper in the game at Somhlolo...
  • King Mswati III come out with some very strong words for those who are engaging in barbaric acts in Swaziland.
  • Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini return as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Swaziland with a clear mandate; to bring back the iron fist leadership in a bid to stop the acts of sabotage that were starting to rear an ugly head in the Kingdom of Swaziland.
  • SA's former president Thabo Mbeki being removed from office by his own Party, the African National Congress (ANC)
  • Jacob Zuma rise to the forfront of the ANC in the run up to the South African Elections in 2009.
  • the slogan 'mshini wami' gain popularity amongst South Africans not necessary for good reasons.
  • A breakaway faction of the ANC form a new party, COPE.
  • The Zimbabwean power struggle stand-off between the ruling party ZANU-PF and MDC.
  • Escalating violence in other troubled African States such as the DRC, Ethiopia, Sudan etc.
  • A first non-white president elect in the USA.
  • World stock markets and economies spectacularly tumble.
  • The 'systematic white collar corruption' exposed in the so callled big companies of the world
  • Big companies such as Lehmann Brothers colapse while others needed saving from government in the big economies of the world.
  • Mr Paulsen (instead of the Mr Bernanke) emerge from the American 'FED' as the frontman in fighting the 'US downturn'
  • Interest rates in many 'developed' economies being droped below 1% in a bid to boost the floundering economies.
  • Detroit's big three; General Motors, Ford and Chrysler face a very real threat of bankrupcy.
  • Oil prices rise sharply to $147/barrel in no time only to spectacularly drop to about $40/barrel 5 months later
  • Forgetable acts of violance in Gazza and the Georgian - Russian border to name a few...
  • Kosovo declare its independance from Serbia
  • Arsenal Football Club almost lift the English Premiership Title for the first time in 4 years only to stumble in the last 3 months of the season to finnish 3rd...
  • Lewis Hamilton become the first black person to be crowned the F1 World Champion
  • The South African test cricket team win a test series down under in Australia
  • R Kelly get acquitted of charges related to inappropriate behaviour with minors (to be polite)
  • Britney Spears make a musical comeback........to mention a few
As the year came to an end, we all had different ways of celebrating or not; with friends, family, braais (barbaques) at home or elsewhere, clubbing, at conventions, on the beach and so on....I hope you had a good year last year and look forward to a good and successful 2009...hope 2008 was two thousand and great for you
